Olympic Lifting

Weight Training Journal

Nothing builds power and explosion like the Olympic lifts. The triple extension of the hang clean is duplicated in many other activities in many other sports. All track athletes from pole vaulters to shot putters have some form of Olympic weightlifting in their program. Pound for pound, Olympic weightlifters have a greater level of speed-strength than any other class of athletes in all of sport. These lifts develop great amounts of flexibility, a key factor in sports. They teach an athlete to coordinate their body. They teach discipline in studying and mastering the technical challenges of the lifts. They have also been used for helping athlete's recover from older injuries. If you do not have at least the clean in your program it may be time to add it.
Here are a few links to help you learn more about the Olympic lifts and getting them into your program.
