How do you pick your sets and reps

For those wondering how much weight to use or how many sets do I need or what should be the goal for my reps this may help.

There are basically five different weight training objectives a person is looking to achieve from their time lifting. Each objective will have a different combination of sets, reps, weight, rest, and percentage of their 1RM. The 5 weight training goals are:
1 - strength
2 - power single effort
3 - power multiple effort
4 - hypertrophy
5 - muscular endurance

The powerlifter, bodybuilder, runner, or the general public will fit into at least one maybe even more of theses categories.
