As most of you may know I am in the middle of studying for my CSCS certification, I expect to write the test in June. The other day I came across some terminology I had been incorrectly using.
I have been referring to two exercises performed one after the other without rest as supersets. Well it has come to my attention that I have inaccurately used this term at times.
According to the National Strength and Conditioning Association, NSCA a superset is defined as two exercises performed in sequence without rest of two opposing muscles or muscle groups, an agonist and the antagonist. An example would be to perform a set of bicep curls then immediately follow up with a set of triceps push downs.
If you perform two different exercises for the same muscles this is called a compound set.
Today will be an off day for me but I will return Sunday with biceps and traps and a back to equal out yesterday. Monday will be back to legs for 10 x 10.
All the best in your weight training, powerlifting, and bodybuilding, programs.
Jason
