Change of program

Weight Training

- Weightlifting Strength Training -

I have decided to try a new approach for the next 10 weeks of weight training. For the next 5 weeks I will be playing rugby, running, and weight training. I have found that these demands are just too much on me. I practice twice a week with the rugby team and we play every Saturday. I have found that it takes me a day or two to recover after a game and I do not feel much like pushing lots of weight around. Plus with 2 days on the track and two days at practice I feel as though I will burn out.

To get around this I will try a static contraction program. For reason I will get into at a later date this method of power lifting and strength training requires a lot of time off between lifting sessions. I think the reduced time in the weight room will be good for me.

I am also eager to see if the methods described in static contraction training are as effective as claimed. For the big three lifts I have a rough idea of my maxes. I am the most eager to see if my bench will skyrocket, if I follow their prescription I can expect phenomenal results. I have a raw bench of around 370, no pause, and no bounce at the bottom. According to the literature I have read, in 10 weeks I can expect to bench over 400. At an average body weight of 200 I would be happy with that number.

Stay tuned as I describe my results and success of the program.

All the best in your weight and programs.
Jason
