Even if your focus has shifted to inseason preparation, as most NCAA and high school teams have done, developing speed, strength and power is crucial to your team's success. Even during the season.
If you wait until midseason to realize your players are suffering from nagging injuries or they're gassed in the fourth quarter, much of the time you've spent in preparation will have gone to waste.
And that's in addition to the fact that your team will be flat out slower, weaker and less conditioned than your competition.
So grab a copy of Total Football Training now, save $100 and, more importantly, give your team the tools to to meet the standards of excellence that define your program.

ncaa football workouts - total football training
I'm sending out this post today to let you know about a breakthrough football training program that was *just* released today, called Total Football Training.
It's developed by Duane Carlisle, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the San Francisco 49ers and, quite frankly, there is no other speed, strength and conditioning program for football that you could even compare it to.
Total Football Training
It truly is a revolutionary program and one that *every* football coach, trainer and/or parent of
football players should have (if you're interested in faster, stronger, more explosive players).
Like any comprehensive athletic development program, it covers football specific speed (linear and
multidirectional), strength, power, flexibility and conditioning in great detail.
That alone makes it King of the Hill in terms of football specific training programs. But that's not
what changes the game...
Coach Carlisle built the entire series around an week off season training program. The DVDs and
the manual work off each other so you don't have to think about what to do. All the workouts, for every single set, rep, drill and exercise are laid out for you.
All you do is open the manual and look at Day 1 Workout 1. Put in the DVD and you'll see that
everything you want to do for Day 1, Workout 1 is demonstrated on the DVD.
This is how the program works for *everything*, soup to nuts. Day 1, Week 1 to Day 4, Week 8. So
you don't have to piece together what to do and when.
And that means you don't have to become a strength and conditioning expert or sacrifice time you normally spend on offense/defense/special teams trying to figure out what speed workout to do or
what lifts, sets and reps you need for the weight room.
Because it's already done.
But don't be scared off by the 'offseason' structure.
You can run the bulk of the program while you're inseason because your players need to continue to
improve their speed, strength and specific endurance throughout the season, not just during the summer.
It's as much a guide as it is a specific program.
Of course, there's a lot more in the program than the workouts and drills on video.
So, look, I'll end on this note:
If you're involved in coaching football and/or football players, Duane Carlisle's Total Football Training program is a no-brainer. I highly recommend you invest in this program.

Football programs that win - becoming dominant superior athleticism
I just finished watching NFL Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Duane Carlisle's new speed, strength and conditioning program: Total Football Training.
Wow!
That's the best way for me to put it.
I've never seen anything like it.
It is, by far, the best football conditioning/training resource I have ever seen.
Now, I know Duane's putting the final touches on the packaging, so it's not available for purchase until Tuesday, July 20. But I wanted to tell you about it as soon as possible because I know you're getting close to the start of the season where you focus might be more on offensive/defensive schemes and less on strength and conditioning.
But if you're serious about football, you'll make this a core part of your training program. My real reason for this post is to let you know about something else Duane is doing, for free, that you'll want to take part in.
On Monday, July 19, Duane is holding a TeleSeminar where he'll be answering your questions about training your football players. It's going to be pure Q&A, with all the questions coming from those of you who register for the call:
It's not a glorified sales pitch. It's all info that you'll be able to use with your athletes right away. With 14 years of experience at the professional level alone, you can be sure Coach Carlisle will give you tips and ideas that will change the way you train your football players.
If the call even scratches the surface of what his new program contains, it's an event you simply can't afford to miss.

Weight Training and Conditioning For Rugby
Weight Training Journal
Weight Lifting Journal for Sunday
Need to get in Rugby Shape?
Training for rugby is not all that different than weight training for other sports. A rugby player needs to be agile, strong, quick, and sturdy. A good weight training program for ruggers will not look all that different than that of a quality football program. A good rugby weight training program needs to include Olympic lifts for speed and explosiveness, squats and deadlifts for strength and power, neck work, and lots of core to protect the back. Sets and reps will vary depending on time of year and position.
The big difference when training for rugby is conditioning. There are few sports that but demands on the body as rugby does. To run hit, be hit, push and jump for close to 90 minutes with virtually no breaks takes a tremendous toll on the body.
Take a look at the various links to see how other teams have set up their rugby strength and conditioning programs.
